Dear Parents and Friends,

Salida del Sol is a home to over 600 happy, eager and energetic roadrunners.  We are a primary school with only pre-kindergarten through third grade students.  We have a wonderful staff that works hard with our students and is committed to providing each student with high quality instruction to help ensure that each child achieves the Arizona Standards. We are sensitive to the needs of all of our students and dedicated to giving them our best effort.

We provide all-day kindergarten classes because we realize how important that time is for young students. We are very excited about the academic impact that it has on our students.

We have an active PTO and believe that parent involvement is essential to a child’s educational success. We encourage all our families to participant in our monthly activities and welcome parent volunteers in our classrooms and on our campus.  Please talk to your child's teacher or the front office for volunteer opportunities.

In an effort to expand the availablilty of this excellent program for students and parents within our Crane District, and the community as a whole, we are going to accept open enrollment at Rancho Viejo and establish a program at Salida del Sol.

For the 2013-2014 school year, these changes will include:

* GAP will be open to ALL 3rd grade students within the Crane District and the greater Yuma community through open enrollment.

* Salida del Sol will implement two GAP 3rd grade classes, with a strong emphasis in Math, Reading, and Science

* The selection process for Salida del Sol GAP program will be based on SAT 10 Math and Reading Scores

* Both Salida del Sol will be implementing "Engineering is Elementary", a supplementary Science program, which will also be used at the Gowan Science Academy

* Open Enrollment begins, March 19, 2013
